Identifying Turfgrass Water Stress

To produce high quality turfgrass, few things are more influential than maintaining proper moisture levels.  While turfgrass water stress is easily identifiable, it is often incorrectly diagnosed as pest-related damage.  In the video below, we show the physical changes that occur when turfgrass is subject to water stress and we demonstrate the value of using wetting agents to alleviate hydrophobic soil conditions.

Dr. Travis Shaddox

Travis Shaddox, Ph.D.is a state turfgrass extension specialist at the University of Kentucky. He addresses soil fertility and nutrition issues in the golf, lawn care, sports turf, and sod production industries.<br/><br/>In his prior position in Florida, his extension program was the Florida and Southern regional winner of the Excellence in Consumer or Commercial Horticulture by the National Association of County Agriculture Agents.
