Our stance on artificial turf is pretty clear.  We’d like to see it all sent to a landfill.  Of course that won’t happen as you can’t send tires to a landfill, but you get the point. 

There’s been a lot of talk lately about chronic exposure to the chemicals in the infill material.  A simple Google search turns up 519,000 results for Toxic Turf.  There is a lot of anecdotal evidence that chronic exposure to infilled materials may be dangerous;  however, to date there hasn’t been a definitive scientific study done.

Here’s the cautionary part: there have been numerous studies showing that turf pesticides, when used properly, are safe.  A Google search of Turf Pesticide Ban yields 227,000 results, and most recently Montgomery County Maryland has banned "cosmetic" pesticides.

The quote below is the one that is most worrisome:

“I think this is a case of politics trumping science and fact,” said Karen Reardon, vice president of public affairs for RISE (Responsible Industry for a Sound Environment), a national trade association for pesticide manufacturers and distributors.

As stated earlier we’d love to see artificial turf go away, but do not support, to borrow a phrase, politics, trumping science and fact.  Hopefully definitive scientific research on the effects of chronic exposure to infill materials will be done.

Césped Toxico: La legenda de advertencia

Nuestra postura en césped artificial es bastante clara.  Nos gustaría verla toda llevada a un vertedero.  Por supuesto esto no pasara porque como saben no se puede mandar yantas al vertedero, pero creo que entienden el punto.

Ha habido mucha conversación últimamente sobre exposición crónica a químicas en el relleno en  materia.  Una búsqueda simple de Google hallara 519,000 resultados de Césped Toxica.  Hay muchas evidencias anécdota que exposición que exposición crónica para relleno de materiales pueden ser peligrosos, en cambia al día todavía no ha habido un estudio científico definitivo hecho.

Aquí hay la parte de la advertencia: ha habido un sin número de estudios mostrando que el pesticida de césped, cuando usado correctamente, son seguro.  Una búsqueda de Google de Turf Pesticide Ban rendirá 227,000 resultados, y más recientemente el Condado de Montgomery de Maryland ha prohibido pesticida “cosmético” banned "cosmetic" pesticides.

El dicho siguiente es el que más me preocupa:

Como ha sido declarado anteriormente nos encanta ver césped artificial desaparecer, pero no sostenemos, para utilizar una frase prestada, política superando la ciencia y hechos.  Tenemos esperanza definitivo estudio científico de los efectos de exposición crónica a materiales relleno terminara.
