Time to Review Your Playbook!

Time to Review Your Playbook!

By the time you read this, the Super Bowl matchup will be set, but as I sit here and write this blog on Monday morning after an embarrassing Dallas Cowboys loss, this quote comes to mind when I think of all the time I wasted watching them this year.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”
-Albert Einstein

It causes me to question if it is even worth it to root for them when they continue to, year after year, not live up to expectations and show that they may not be a good football team. With all the hype of a healthy team that was supposed to have an explosive offense and a great defense, they showed as the season went on that we were nowhere near being Super Bowl contenders, compared to the other teams. It all comes down to those last-minute decisions we make when the going gets tough. And the Cowboys are not role models.

What's working?

That being said, I would encourage you to start reflecting on what you have been doing over the past few years and if it is working for your agronomic program or not. We have seen record numbers of golf rounds these past few years, requiring more work from our teams to maintain the course, but in most cases, we've had to make due with less than a full staff. So, the question is, are you getting the results you are looking for? Is your turf responding to excess traffic? Are the products you typically use readily available with the current supply chain issues? Heading into Spring, now is a good time to evaluate these issues and see if there is a product or service out there that can help you get the results you may not be obtaining.

Tips for results

One of your local Harrell’s representatives can go over our different offerings from either our foliarwetting agent, or adjuvant product lines. We have had two new products come out in the past couple of years which may also be a huge help to your program, Amino Pro V and Seaweed A+E. Both of these products have shown impressive results in building root mass and density, perfect to combat an over-worked turf. These products are a great tool to add to your program that may help you get to where you want to be. Amino Pro V is an innovative fertilizer, derived from protein-hydrolysate, that aids in promoting abiotic stress tolerance, stimulates photosynthesis, and promotes increased root massSeaweed A+E is a unique combination that pairs our original seaweed extract, Ascophyllum nodosum with a new source, Ecklonia maxima, that is a seaweed extract derived from a kelp mine off the coast of South Africa.

Don't let your agronomic plan fail you in the fourth quarter, even when it looks good on paper, like my Cowboys. Plan ahead, take inventory, see what you can do now and reach out to your Harrell's Rep to see what you can do down the line. Set yourself up for the best and it will be much easier to tackle the problems as they come.
