I hate to be one who writes and complains about the weather, but Mother Nature sure has dealt us a difficult hand this Spring. Turf & Ornamental managers across the Upper Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, and Northeast regions of the country have experienced extraordinary amounts of rainfall and cool temperatures this Spring.  It seems we are in a pattern of “extreme” weather to one degree or another all-across the country…and it just won’t let go. 

This unpredictability makes it very difficult to plan and accomplish the goals set out for each property at the beginning of the season.  In the case of the Midwest, it’s been hard to apply fertilizer, pre-emergent herbicides, and preventative insecticide treatments…much less keep the rough and fairways mowed!  

An old friend of mine gave me some advice to keep in mind during these times: When the weather is unrelenting and it’s easy to get overwhelmed, just try to remember three things…

First, keep a calm, upbeat approach with your staff and ownership.  Second, remember that this too shall pass.  Finally, deploy solutions that will make a difference such as POLYON®, Fleet®, and Amino Pro V.

Odio ser alguien que escribe y se queja por el clima, pero la Madre Naturaleza seguramente nos ha dado una mano difícil esta primavera. Los gerentes de césped y plantas ornamentales de las regiones del Alto Medio Oeste, Medio Atlántico y Nordeste del país han experimentado cantidades extraordinarias de lluvia y temperaturas frescas en esta primavera.
