Monday morning Harrell’s LLC., went to auction for the 300-acre Ram Peat property, its offices and assets. The event resulted in a new Harrell’s asset acquisition of the Ram Peat property.

The newly acquired facility and operations will be a subsidiary of Harrell’s LLC titled Harrell’s Horticultural Products LLC.  The property is a workable peat mine located in Avon Park, FL, which makes it a great central location to serve our Florida customers. Harrell’s Horticultural Products plans to commence production at the facility January 3, 2011.  During this transition, Harrell’s will be taking the opportunity to make capital improvements and basic site maintenance prior to reopening.

Jack Harrell Jr. proudly announced “We’re already in the business of selling fertilizer to the horticultural industry and we’ll continue to sell the fertilizer and the soil.”  Harrell’s plans to continue operations by rehiring a number of of the employees previously employed by Ram Peat at the Avon Park site which includes the peat blending facility, warehouse and other contiguous assets.
