Yesterday I took to Twitter to ask you, the faithful readers of The Front Porch Blog, what you wanted me to write about.  You could say that’s because I’m out of ideas, and you’d be right.

• Zach Van Vorhees (@zachvanvorhees) wanted me to discuss best practices to guarantee success in the spring.
• Jesse Pritchard (@HoosTurf) asked about best overseeding practices.
• And an unnamed MiLB sports turf manager texted me to say we could write a novel about the issues he’s currently facing.

So here we go: all three suggestions pointed me in this direction.  Planning and preparedness are keys to success regardless of your situation.

A comprehensive agronomic plan will include a healthy plant that will overwinter well and be ready for spring.  A comprehensive agronomic plan will include a successful overseed.  And a comprehensive agronomic plan would have prevented all of the issues our “unnamed” MiLB sports turf manager has inherited.
