Michael Hall was born and raised in Newark Ohio until it came time for his college years where he moved to the University of Akron to pursue a degree in elementary education. Throughout college, Michael worked at Albany Country Club and after three seasons, he realized his true passion was on the course and not in the classroom. He transferred to Ohio State where he received his Bachelor of Science in Agronomy.
After working at Hickory Hills Golf club in Grove City Ohio for 3 years, Michael accepted an assistant job at Twin Eagles in Naples FL., however they were soon bought out by Shadow Wood due to bankruptcy, where he continued to work and soon got to know Harrell's. After their second child was born, Michael and his wife decided to move back to Ohio to be closer to family, so Michael started working with Brickman Landscape company until spring of 2009.
One particularly rainy day in 2009, Michael noticed just how hard it was to keep up with the mowing and remembered how he heard POLYON® is really good to use in heavy rains. So, he contacted someone at Harrell's. "Norman contacted me and said the guy I was asking questions of had just quit and that someone would get back with him but was wondering if I knew of anyone looking for a job. I was at that moment standing in a black dyed mulch truck in the rain and exclaimed, IM LOOKING FOR A JOB! I've been at Harrell's ever since."
Michael's favorite thing about working in the Hort industry is the growers and owners, helping them make the best decisions that they can for their plants. "I love being a nice break for my customers from their difficult jobs. I also enjoy being a sounding board for any difficult issues they are having in their life." Making a good impression on his customers is very important to Michael, and he is very thankful for Harrell's and how intentional they are at building personal relationships with their customers.
Outside of work, Michael likes to travel and take on projects around the house that he has never done before, from landscaping to indoor projects.
Michael is a lover of nearly all things ornamentals. His favorite plants are hydrangeas and his least favorite are junipers.
We're proud to have you on the team, Michael.
