Harrell’s Lakeland Site Services recently celebrated the annual Take Our Daughters and Sons To Work Day on Friday, July 13, 2012. In keeping with the program, we invited the children (ages 6-14) of our employees to join their parents at work for a day to see what goes on at Harrell’s!
The day’s activities included having the kids decorate a mini surf board with magazine cutouts of what they want to be when they grow up in a project called “Surfs Up”! The idea is to help them understand that sometimes life will have some pretty rough waves, but if you are patient and willing, there will be a great wave to catch and ride all the way to a bright future.
The kids also enjoyed painting and decorating a mini flower pot to take home, complete with dirt and a flower to help continue “Growing a Better World”.
We held a mini-orientation during the event which included a tour of our offices and warehouse and an introduction to each Harrell’s department to teach the kids what each department does.
Each department did a great job explaining to our young group its main responsibilities:
Needless to say, we had a wonderful day of activities and learning. We are already looking forward to having our Harrell’s Kids back again for next year. Thank you Harrell’s parents for helping make this day a real success! In the meantime, to learn more about Take Our Daughters and Sons To Work, please visit www.daughtersandsonstowork.org.
