No Roots! – The Follow Up
No Roots! – The Follow Up
Ok, so you didn’t take my advice back in March when we talked about building roots to get you through the summer, or maybe you did, and Mother Nature still took you to the mat. Well do not tap out yet. There is still time to recover. The cooler nights and shorter days have finally arrived. Natural recovery is on its way, but I challenge you to give it a little boost. EOP is just around the corner, and one thing that we offer in the North for Turf during EOP, is our version of a pack or a bundle. We call them MAX Packs. It is a way to purchase multiple products that are scientifically proven to work together at a discounted rate. On top of that, purchases of Harrell’s products in EOP count towards our Harrell’s Rewards program.
Enough about EOP for now. I want to focus on one of the packs we offer, because I think it can help your greens recover from the beating that they experienced over the last season. Between the droughts, floods, hot temperatures, and increased play, those playing surfaces are waiving the proverbial white flag across the country.
The Harrell’s MAX® Root Health Program is university-backed and includes five great products. The program below is designed as a once per month application with quantities based on 3 acres of turf. The MAX Pack offered in EOP covers three applications in total. I urge you to order one application now and get it out as soon as possible. The combination of these products includes amino, humic, and fulvic acids, beneficial biology for the soil, seaweed extract to promote stress tolerance and enhance root mass. Plus, it has the Fleet® 100 wetting agent which creates deep moisture penetration with uniform distribution, to help neutralize soil bicarbonates and minimize LDS as the dry, Fall weather arrives. Water these products in based on your soil conditions and normal use of wetting agents.

Maybe your roots look healthy, but your playing surfaces themselves look a little tired. We also have a MAX Pack for that. It is called the Harrell’s MAX Turf Recovery Program. This program is also university tested and TurPh.Dude-designed as a 1-2 application program to help speed up turf recovery. This program blends multiple forms of nitrogen with amino acids, kelp extract, salicylic acid, iron, manganese, and our proven Phopshite formulation of the ProtectMAX® Title Phyte® Systemic Fungicide (yes, it has a fungicide label now!!) Finally, I would also recommend the addition of PAR® SG to either of these MAX Packs to help enhance the effects. PAR® SG has been scientifically proven to “move the needle” on turf quality and root length.

Since I gave everyone a song about roots last time, I think it is only fair that I leave you with another one. This, too, has nothing to do with the part of a plant that attaches to the ground, but I found the song to be catchy. Here’s “Roots” by Imagine Dragons. I hope everyone has an enjoyable Fall season and gets to slow down a half of a step or so and enjoy the ride.
