We recently received the following thank you letter from one of our Alabama customers after a recent tornado outbreak.

The Community Furniture Bank is an established non-profit organization that assists clients with furniture, appliances, and home furnishings. Recipient clients include those moving from shelters into permanent housing, and victims of domestic abuse or natural disasters. The caseload is steady, but after an event such as the tornado outbreak of April 27, requests for pickups of donated items as well as assistance are far above average.

The biggest challenge for the CFB in responding to such a situation is logistics. Increased fuel consumption and a need for additional storage space are the two biggest issues, and Harrell’s has responded with a generous gift. These funds will be used to defray the increased direct operating costs associated with storm relief. Several storm victims have already been served, and that number will increase drastically as the housing market absorbs all those that were displaced.
