Final Update: Two-year study 2018-2019: Working Together - Nematode Management and Plant Health
Almost two years ago, Harrell’s and Dr. Billy Crow, Landscape Nematologist at the University of Florida, initiated a study in Citra, FL to identify an effective strategy for controlling nematodes and improving root health in a bermudagrass putting green environment.
The study included several treatments: nematicides only, biostimulants only, and a combination of nematicides and biostimulants. All treatments included a penetrating wetting agent, Fleet®, in order to ensure thorough root-zone distribution of applied nematicides and biostimulants.
A summary of the year one and year two results support that the combination of nematicides and biostimulants is more beneficial for root health than either of them applied alone (see chart below). Dr. Crow states “The results do indicate that when sting and root-knot nematodes are present, the Harrell’s Root Health Program can enhance turf root growth if an effective nematicides program is followed”.
