Like clockwork, July rolls around and brings with it the joys and perils of mid-summer weather. Turf managers and lawn care operators know all too well the challenges that heat and humidity can pose to an unprepared or already struggling stand of turfgrass. I’ve written at length about turf disease control strategies in the past, but I’d like to focus on a few key product recommendations and how they might help in managing summer disease issues on lawns and landscapes.

Lawn Disease Care Tips

For some, lawn disease management is more of a “see it then treat it” type approach. While this can often pose problems like elevated pressure, irrecoverable damage, and more difficult to control epidemics, it’s a reality of an industry that operates on slim margins, tight budgets, diverse accounts, and time constraints. Regardless of whether you treat them preventively or curatively, Harrell’s has a full suite of offerings that can tackle some of the toughest and most common lawn diseases. Not all mid-summer lawn issues are disease related. Excessive moisture, extended periods of drought, disease damage, or just poor turf health/coverage can give rise to crabgrass and other unwanted plant invaders. ProtectMAX® Quinclorac is a great option for mid-to-late-summer weed control.
