With the sight and smell of fall in the air, the month of October is finally here. Yes, it's October and that means some turf managers are preparing for overseed, some are prepping for Poa control and/or snow mold applications, and others are getting ready to close the course for the season. However, on the distribution side of things, this means one big responsibility… Early Order Programs.

I know this is a ‘phrase’ that gets used over and over, but if there is a year to participate in EOP its 2021 and here is why!

Inventory/Product Availability

Over the last several months, many turf & ornamental manufactures have faced serious headwinds on supplying a multitude of control products to the industry. Labor, active ingredient availability, COVID-19, plant production, and logistics are all part of this volatile cycle. This is one facet that is causing some tight inventory and product availability.
On an international level, various new environmental regulations have been implemented in Asia. For instance, China has adopted new environmental regulations as it prepares for the 2022 Winter Olympics. This will have a direct impact on control product inputs such as active ingredient manufacturing.

Plan Ahead

From new environmental regulations being implemented in Asia to costlier freight and increased regulatory requirements, makes 2022 the year to participate in these Early Order Buying Programs.
The big picture is that the above constriction points are not going away for 2022. I would give some direct thought on taking advantage of these upcoming buying programs. Whether it’s purchasing a 6-month supply or a full agronomic year, take advantage of these programs to ensure you have products at your disposal, even with restrictions.
