The problem with aerification is simple. It isn’t the disruption in play, the cost associated with specialized equipment, or the labor required to do it. It is, however, that we don’t do it ENOUGH!

Nearly three years ago, after our marketing guru Tina Newberry talked me, the guy who studied agriculture (at least in part) due to the lack of writing required, into writing for The Front Porch Blog, I wrote about my thing.

Everybody has their thing, and mine has always been aerification. That feeling is even stronger today, now six years removed from being a sports turf manager. My friend at Growing Innovations, Jerad Minnick, advocates weekly aeration of some kind. I initially scoffed at the idea, but with the advent of new machinery in recent years I think it’s possible to perform some sort of aerification weekly on many of our high use athletic fields.

Campey Turf Care Systems, a European equipment manufacturer, is building awesome tools to add to your aerification programs. Harrell's, LLC has a bevy of programs designed to hasten recovery after aerification, and the benefits of regular aerification cannot be denied.

That's all great, but how does it help the typical sports turf manager who must make their dollar stretch further and further every year, as well as face increased expectations of owners, coaches and user groups? It probably doesn’t, but it’s a good goal to work towards.

Here’s the bottom line: I believe the benefits of aerification happen exponentially. What I mean by that is if 2 aerifications are good then 3 are great and 4 would be excellent. If you can increase the number of aerifications this year DO IT! You won’t be disappointed!

El Problema de Aerificacion

El problema con aerificación es simple.  No es la disrupción en juego, el costo asociado con el equipo de especialidad, o el trabajo requerido en hacerlo.  Lo que es, sin embargo, que no lo hacemos lo ¡SUFICIENTE!

Casi tres años atrás, después de la plática de nuestro gurú de mercadeo Tina Newberry, lo chicos que estudian agricultura (por lo menos en parte) dado al poco requisito de escribir, a escribir para el blog The Front Porch (El Balcón de Frente) (yo escribí sobre mi cosa) I wrote about my thing.

Todo el mundo tienen sus cosas, y las mías siempre ha sido aerificación.  Este sentimiento es aún más fuerte hoy, ya de haber cumplido seis años desde que fui un gerente de césped de deporte.  Mi amigo de Growing Innovations (Innovación de Crecimiento), Jerad Minnick, recomienda alguna forma de aeración.  Yo inicialmente me burle de la idea, pero con la venida de nuevas máquinas en anos reciente creo que es posible hacer alguna clase de aerificación semanalmente en muchos de nuestros campos atléticos de mayor uso.

Campey Turf Care Systems, a fabricantes de equipo Europeo, esta construyendo tremendas herramientas para agregar a su programa de aerificación.  Harrell’s, LCC tiene un grupo de programas designada para avanzar la recuperación de aerificación y los beneficios de aerificación no se pueden negar.

Todo esto es bueno, pero como ayuda esto al gerente típico de césped de deporte el cual hace estirara sus dólares más y más cada ano, además de confrontar mas expectaciones de sus dueños, entrenadores y grupos usadores?  Quizá no lo hace, pero es una buena meta de tratar de alcanzar.

He aquí el final de la línea: Yo creo que los beneficio de aerificación (the benefits of aerification) suceden exponencialmente.  Lo que quiero decir en esto es si 2 aerificaciones son buenos entonces 4 son excelente.  Si puede aumentar el número de aerificación este ano ¡HAGALO! No será desilusionado.
