In my 14 years with Harrell’s, one thing that continues to resonate with me came all the way from the top. “Our people are our greatest asset.” It was true when I started with only three locations, and it remains true today as we are set to open our 21st and 22nd locations. In my not so humble, not so unbiased opinion, our professional employee-owner truck drivers are our greatest assets!

This month highlights my favorite time of the year. During the week of September 9th – 16th, our nation champions, applauds and celebrates professional drivers like these 57 men during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. In a time when drivers are in such great demand, the men and women in this industry continue to travel more than 270 million miles a year. Often when we are celebrating holidays, they are sacrificing their time to drive our nation’s economy. When we are the middle of our nightly rest, they are rising to hit the road in darkness. When we are having dinner with our families or enjoying activities after work, they have often gone to bed for the night. Professional truck drivers dedicate themselves to safety, customer service, and rigorous regulatory demands. They do this because they are professionals who know that this nation relies on them to deliver 70% of our nation’s freight. If it’s in your home or makes up your home, it most likely came on a truck. In a time when you hear so much about autonomous trucks, don’t forget that without these men and women, the United States of America stops!

Harrell’s customer service is what helps set us apart from our competitors. Our professional drivers personify that customer service and our culture of growing and delivering a better world. Harrell’s became successful, remains successful and will continue to be successful because of the tireless work of our professional employee-owner drivers. I’ll remind you every year and every chance I get that we have the best professional drivers in the industry. When you see them, stop and thank them. Take them to lunch! Name a child after them! No matter what location you call home, no matter what role you play, make and take the time to recognize and thank the gentlemen listed below for their continued commitment to safety, customer service, and delivering Harrell’s to America.
