With spring finally here, it is time to start planning your spring/summer fertilizer program.

The best way to plan a fertilizer program is to have a soil test taken in early spring to make sure the proper amount of nutrients are being applied to the soil. 

This includes the 3 major elements of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, but a soil test will also show the amount of micronutrients such as calcium, magnesium, iron, manganese and zinc present. Other benefits of a good soil test include checking the pH and CEC of the soil.

It is important to make sure that the soil laboratory chosen for the test is reliable and understands the needs of the sports turf manager. If you need help selecting a soil test laboratory, check with your Harrell's representative.

When the soil test results are returned, work with your local Harrell’s rep to make sure the best fertilizer program is being implemented as effectively as possible. This will mean healthy turf for all of your spring and summer events.
