The Original Reactive Layers Coating
The Reactive Layer Coating (RLC) and superior bonding properties used in Harrell’s POLYON® controlled-release fertilizer creates a tight adhesion of the polymer coating to the heated urea substrate material. This ensures:
• Predictability of Release - we have decades of data with proven results for your specific growing environment. To ensure POLYON® fertilizer can go the distance in extreme temperatures, we test POLYON® fertilizer performance at 86° F (30°C)
• Durability of the Prill - the tight adhesion of the coating to the substrate leads to durability of the prill, which is key to the predictability of release.
• Consistency of Results - The durable POLYON® fertilizer prill withstands tough conditions ensuring the nutrients are preserved up until the specific time they’re scheduled to release, giving you consistent greening all season long. We guarantee it.
Pictured to the right you will see POLYON® fertilizer coating analyzed at a microscopic level confirming the polymer coating is uniformly adhered to the prill, with no skips, gaps or bubbles.
Once applied, POLYON® Controlled-Release Fertilizer settles and begins reacting to the environment. In suitable conditions, POLYON® fertilizer begins to release within 1-2 weeks after application. Coating thickness and temperature affect the Nitrogen release rate. As the temperature rises, more nutrients are released, so thicker coatings are recommended for longer release in hotter temperatures.

In University trials, POLYON® fertilizer has been proven to provide longer greening per application than standard Urea and methylene-urea. Methylene urea and standard urea provides a rapid greening response, followed by a decline in green color over time. Length of greening in combination with coating durability and predictability make POLYON® fertilizer the premier choice for long term nitrogen feeding.
