Understanding the Effects of Controlled-Release Fertilizer.
How POLYON Works.
POLYON Controlled-Release Fertilizer has been used by turf professionals for nearly 20 years. Its patented "Reactive Layers Coating™" technology is backed by many years of basic and applied research, both in laboratories and field applications on commercial turf and residential lawns.
With POLYON, nitrogen is released gradually and consistently via temperature-controlled diffusion and it is not affected by moisture. The controlled release of nutrients helps professional turf managers achieve green, healthy turf and lawns for up to seven months. And, because nutrients are released gradually throughout the growth cycle, there is less nutrient loss to the environment.

POLYON Works Through Temperature-Controlled Diffusion
The key to the consistent, gradual release of POLYON fertilizer is in the exclusive polymer membrane that coats each granule. Only temperature influences the release rate, so there is no need to worry about growth flushes or excessive nitrogen runoff from moisture or microbial activity.
Week One: Moisture Absorption
Within a week of application, the polymer coating allows soil moisture in, which activates the encapsulated nutrients, but doesn’t release them.
Months of Product Longevity: Nutrient Diffusion
Throughout the season, the membrane slowly releases dissolved nutrients through diffusion. This controlled-release of nitrogen is triggered by soil temperature, not irrigation or rainfall, which helps eliminate growth surges.
After Complete Release: Polymer Decomposition
After all of the nutrients have been released, the polymer coating microbially decomposes into naturally occurring soil elements.
POLYON Controlled-Release Fertilizer is made to be better.
This time-lapsed video demonstrates the breakthrough, high-tech "Reactive Layers Coating™" process that gives POLYON its trademarked GREEN color and the special, controlled-release properties formulated to suit the particular environment and growing conditions in your area. The process begins by carefully selecting fertilizer granules that are smooth, hard, uniform in size and dust free to ensure we obtain a more even coating and better nutrient delivery.
After a quality inspection, the granules are heated and coated with monomer A, which adheres to the surface of the granule. Then monomer B is applied, and it chemically bonds with monomer A to create a superior polymer coating (as seen in video).
Our exclusive coating technology gives POLYON a uniform coating, ensuring gradual and consistent nutrient release for an entire season.
